Dance for a cause! Join CommUNITY Arts STL for a full-day dance workshop to raise money for CommUNITY Arts STL's Expressive Arts Anonymous program. Be inspired by the nationally acclaimed instructors in classes such as; contemporary, musical theater, and hip-hop while supporting local first responders and ER/Trauma professionals.
WORKSHOP TEACHING ARTISTS
MUSICAL THEATER Marjorie Failoni is a New York based performer and choreographer. She is originally from St. Louis, MO and has a BFA in Musical Theatre from the University of Michigan. Go Blue! She is currently the Dance Captain/Swing and understudies the role of Tammy in the Broadway production of Escape to Margaritaville at the Marquis Theatre. learn more
HIP HOP Starting at age 15, Chris began dancing in his high school's dance company and attended a local studio for more training. After graduating high school, he became a battle dancer with Deadly Venom Crew(DVC)/ Kombine Stylez Crew(KSC) and also started to teach at studios along the east coast. learn more
CONTEMPORARY Matthew Schmitz, a St. Louis native, graduated with a BFA in Dance from Webster University. He also studied with Boston Ballet, Joffrey Ballet Chicago, Kansas City Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago at their summer intensives. He has been very fortunate to work with Edgar Zendejas, Lauren Edson, Ron de Jesus, Eddy Ocampo, Joshua Manculich, Iyun Harrison, Joshua L. College Dance Education Parent Q&A session with representatives with local collegiate dance departments such as Webster University, Washington University, Lindenwood University, and Southern Illinois-Edwardsville University.

CASTL's Young Artist Workshop provides more than technique classes. Set your perfromance career up for success with with an Injury Prevention for Dancers workshop and audition to perform alongside Saint Louis professionals at CommUNITY Arts Benefit Concert. All registrants are invited to perform regardless of interest in the performance. Curated and led by the workshop instructors, the audition is an opportunity to practice and receive feedback to grow confidence in future auditions.
YAW Benefit Concert Performance Opportunity
Here is your chance to work with national choreographers and share the stage with Saint Louis's top arts companies. Past festival companies such as: The Big Muddy Dance Company, MADCO, Ashleyliane Dance Company.
At the audition, each teaching artist will select 6 students for each discipline, contemporary, musical theater and/or hip hop. Selected dancers will have original choreography set on Sunday, August 18 from 2-5pm, with the Benefit Concert on Sunday, September 8. Each performer will receive two complimentary tickets to the benefit concert.
